At the four gorgeous, functional dental practice designs that today earn national recognition in the 2022 Incisal Edge Design Competition (shown), beauty and medical excellence align like a perfect smile. These dental practices in California, Illinois and North Carolina, and the doctors who have brought them to vivid life, receive prestigious awards for dental practice design from the nation’s premier dental magazine published by Benco Dental.

Annually, independent juried panelists for the Incisal Edge Design Competition perform a comprehensive review of photos and floor plans to determine which nominees from across the U.S. will earn national recognition for dental practice design. The criteria: attaining a balance of design, operation, and technology. This year’s competition, presented by Benco Dental, took place from August through November, 2021, and today, the magazine announces its 2022 winners and in three categories.

Honorees of the 10th annual Incisal Edge Design Competition for dental practices will be featured in the print and digital issues of Incisal Edge magazine this spring. Dentists, interior designers and architects will receive insider tips on what it takes to create an award-winning dental practice design from two sources: this year’s winners, and experts in the dental and architectural worlds.

Who are juried panelists for the 2022 Incisal Edge Design Competition?

The competition’s esteemed juried panel includes:

• Joyce Bassett, DDS, FAACD, FAGD – Lecturer, author, president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Founded the Women Teaching Women Cosmetic Learning Facility.
• Tristan Hamilton, DDS, M. ARCH – Featured keynote at dentistry’s leading design workshops across the U.S. Holds degrees in both dentistry and architecture.
• Andrew D. Lyons, II, DDS – Entrepreneurial dentist and co-owner of Smile Savvy Cosmetic Dentistry in Charlotte, North Carolina. Shares expertise in lectures about dental-practice design, aesthetics and interior flow to industry groups across the country.
• Phyllis Marshall-Rice, LEED AP, EDAC – Healthcare design manager at Herman Miller, LEED Associate professional. Holds Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC).

Dr. Hamilton is a previous recipient of an Incisal Edge Design Competition award.
